[Square of paper with printed text] Robert Browning. 1st Edition, 1903. Loosely inserted is an original holograph letter to Chesterton from Anne Thackeray Ritchie, daughter of W.M. Thackeray. “I must tell you how much interested I have been by your book. It recalls dear Mr. Browning so vividly to me instantaneously. More vivid than my own remembrances of him which have grown limp by constant use. Could you come about 6 o’clock next Monday? I would show a few scraps of him which I prize always. Yours sincerely, Anne Ritchie. This important letter has been in my possession for many years, and its contents should be made known to students and aficionados of both Browning and Thackeray.
